Herpes Rash – Cold Sores Can Trigger a Rash From HSV Virus

by on 2011/03/31

I have gotten a cold sore or two a year and was surprised last week though to find I had a full body rash (back legs and bottom) of red lesions with white centers. When I went to the doctor he said that it was called erythema multiforme minor and it is the herpes virus that can cause the rash. Other causes can be antibiotics reactions or a bacterial or viral infection in your system.

However, the literature says that hsv or herpes simplex virus is the main reason why people get this rash. This is another good motivator, aside from the embarassment of the cold sore blister or faver blister and it's discomfort. The rash is itchy and without benadryl, it's difficult to sleep. Fortunately, I have the minor version which is less serious than the EM major form of it.

The rash is supposed to subside in one to six weeks. It has shown me the importance of being diligent at controlling the herpes outbreaks to avoid this rash again in the future. For relief of the rash , oatmeal baths, pine

tar soap and aloe vera seem to help the inflammation and itching.

The cold sore on the lip can fortunately be controlled with natural methods. I now feel confident that this cycle of cold sore and body rash will be broken by having a plan and method to implement. Taking l-lysine will aid in fighting the virus as well. The key is to follow a plan that works and keep your immune system strong.
