Ehh.. on the fence,
I am suffering from some severe mucus take-over in my lungs and nose right now, so I went for the big guns and bought Mucinex Fast Max. My first concern was that no where on the package does it say what flavor it is, normally this is a deal breaker for me because I hate the minty and “warming” flavors other cough/cold syrups sometimes have, but I took a chance and bought it anyways. Although the taste is a chemical laden blueberry- it wasn’t as bad as other cough/cold syrups on the market.
It did quiet my coughing to a more less frequent urge cough my brains out, however my lungs are still pretty sore (probably from earlier today when I threw a coughing party on my way home from work). My nose was still stuffed up – however my sinus pain did dissipate which is a miracle in itself (I was going to cry it hurt so bad). I did feel a little loopy after taking it (about 40 minutes after) but I am usually really sensitive to the active ingredients in this type of OTC medicine (man you should see what happens to me on codeine!)
Overall I still feel crummy- but a little better than before I took it. I am not convinced this is the answer to the annoying symptoms of a cold though- If this product does affect me differently in the next few days I will update this- however I wouldn’t hold your breath.
I would say this is the same if not a tad better than the usual suspects (robitussin, triaminic, tylenol cold, etc..) with DayQuil still taking the cake (but only because it knocks you out so you don’t spend as much time awake feeling sick!) However the price will probably make me reach for a cheaper alternative with the same mgs of active ingredients.

|Maximum strength…really?,
I don’t know what got to me but I have a severe fever, sore throat, mucus, and nasal congestion. I thought a tablet or two of aleve and goggle with salt would get rid of the cold but it just got worse the next day at work. My condition got worse as I took in more Halls throat candy (isn’t this ironic?). I went to a local grocery store right after work and I had a hard time choosing which medicine to get. I came across the Mucinex cold flu and sore throat and thought it was perfect since I had all three problems. I’ve taken 3 cups in the past 12 hours and I feel a lot better but I expected better results. I still feel a little bit of fever and I cough a little. I think maximum strength is misleading…I think this product is perfect for someone who needs something on the job. It doesn’t make you feel drowsy.
